Cookie Policy

1. What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website keeps in your browser. They let a site recall preferences from a previous visit. This policy sets out which cookies Hosting Cheap (hosting-cheap.com) uses and why.

2. Cookies we use

Three categories cover the cookies used on this website. Only the necessary ones stay on at all times; analytics and marketing cookies are set only after you allow them through the cookie banner.

• Necessary (always on): hc_ccy keeps track of which display currency you are shown (all charges are billed in USD); hc_cookie_consent stores the choice you made in the banner for 180 days, so the question is not put to you again; and our hosting platform may set cookies required to serve pages securely and reliably.
• Analytics (with your consent): Google Analytics 4 cookies (_ga, _ga_*) show us which pages get used and how visitors come to find us, always in aggregate.
• Marketing (with your consent): Google Ads cookies (_gcl_*) along with the Meta (Facebook/Instagram) Pixel cookie (_fbp) tell us if the ads we buy are doing anything, and may serve you ads better matched to you.

Decline, and no analytics or marketing cookies get set at all. Google's tags then run cookieless, in “consent mode”, sending nothing but anonymous, aggregated pings that store no data in your browser; the Meta Pixel does not load whatsoever.

3. The billing area

The client and billing area we run separately at billing.hosting-cheap.com runs on WHMCS, which sets its own strictly necessary cookies, keeping you logged in being one example. Operating your account depends on those cookies. The cookie choice you make is recorded against the shared .hosting-cheap.com domain, which means the decision you make here is respected in the billing area as well, with identical analytics and marketing rules applying across the two of them.

4. Managing cookies

Changing your mind is possible at any point: removing the hc_cookie_consent cookie from your browser brings the banner back on your next visit, letting you choose again. Any cookie can also be deleted or blocked through your browser settings. Block the essential ones and parts of the site may stop working properly; your currency preference, for instance, might not be remembered.
