How to Connect Your Email to Outlook, Apple Mail & Your Phone

Updated 20 July 20265 min read

To add your domain email to any app, choose IMAP and use mail.yourdomain.com as both the incoming and outgoing server, your full email address as the username, and the mailbox password. Use the secure (SSL/TLS) ports — 993 for incoming IMAP and 465 for outgoing SMTP. The exact settings are also shown under 'Connect Devices' next to your mailbox in cPanel.

The settings you need

  • Account type: IMAP (keeps mail in sync across all your devices).
  • Incoming server (IMAP): mail.yourdomain.com, port 993, SSL/TLS.
  • Outgoing server (SMTP): mail.yourdomain.com, port 465, SSL/TLS.
  • Username: your full email address (you@yourdomain.com), not just the part before @.
  • Password: the mailbox password you set when you created the account.

Add it to your app

  1. 1In your mail app, choose to add an account and pick 'Other' or 'IMAP' (not Gmail/Outlook.com).
  2. 2Enter your name, full email address and password.
  3. 3When asked for server details, enter the incoming and outgoing servers and ports above.
  4. 4Make sure SSL/TLS is turned on for both servers and that outgoing mail requires authentication.
  5. 5Save and send yourself a test message to confirm it works both ways.

IMAP vs POP — which to pick

Choose IMAP. It keeps your mail on the server and in sync, so a message read on your phone shows as read on your laptop too. POP downloads mail to one device and can remove it from the server, which causes confusion the moment you add a second device. Unless you have a specific reason, IMAP is the right choice.

FAQ

Quick answers

Where do I find the exact server names for my account?

In cPanel, open Email Accounts, then click 'Connect Devices' (or 'Set Up Mail Client') next to your mailbox. It lists the exact incoming and outgoing server names and ports for your account, and some apps can even be configured automatically from that screen.

My email won't send but receives fine — why?

That's almost always the outgoing (SMTP) settings. Confirm the SMTP server, port 465 with SSL/TLS, and that 'outgoing server requires authentication' is switched on using your full email address and password. Some networks block mail ports, so if it fails on one Wi-Fi, try mobile data to rule that out.
